MAHAMAYA TEMPLE
Built in 16th C. it is one of the important temples at Ankola city. The temple is beside NH-17 (national highway). The temple holds the deities of Shri Mahamayi, Shri Laxmi Narayana along with the idols of Eshwara, Parwathi and Ganapathi. During Mahanavami and Vijaya dashami special worship and celebrations are held.

ARYADURGA TEMPLE
Sri Arya Durga Temple is in the coastal town of Ankola in Uttara Kannada District. Established over 300 years ago by a saint, the temple has his samadhi in front of it. The temple was renovated recently. Kundodhari Mahamaya Chamundeswari Temple is another nearby attraction.

DANDELI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
The sanctuary covers part of the rich forests of the Uttara Kannada District, on the banks of the river Kali. In the jungles of Dandeli, one can spot several animals as well as birds including many endangered species – provided the reasonable ground for the government to declare the Dandeli forest, a National Wildlife Sanctuary in 1956.
The sanctuary now covers an area of 834.16 square kilometers. This sanctuary is the second largest wildlife sanctuary of Karnataka. Along with its adjoining Anshi National Park; Dandeli is an abode of 40 tigers. All credit goes to the government announced Project Tiger that has helped increase the tiger-count to 40 from just 13 in 1997.

Yana is a village located in forests of the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It is located in the Sahyadri mountain range of the Western Ghats, about 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Karwar port, 40 kilometres (25 mi) from Sirsi, and 31 kilometers (19 mi) from Kumta. The two unique rock outcrops near the village are a tourist attraction and easily approachable by a small trek through 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) of thick forests from the nearest road head. Yana is famous for these two massive rock outcrops known as the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the Mohini Shikhara (“Shikhara” means “hill”). The huge rocks are composed of solid black, crystalline Karst limestone. Bhairaveshwara Shikhara is 120 metres (390 ft) in height, while the Mohini Shikhara, which is smaller, is 90 metres (300 ft) in height. Yana is also well known as a pilgrimage centre because of the cave temple below the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara where a Swayambhu (“self manifested”, or “that which is created by its own accord”) linga has been formed. Water drips from the roof over the linga, adding to the sanctity of the place During annual festivities held here during the Shivaratri, a car festival is also held. CHANDRA NATHESHWARA BASADI

SIRSI MARIKAMBA TEMPLE

SAHASRALINGA
Traversing in the midst of areca, coconut and banana plantations the forest opens its beauty to the onlooker.
